Where is the competition held?
All Heats in June are held at Maroondah Federation Estate, 32 Greenwood Ave, Ringwood. Free parking is available on site. This is a short walk from Ringwood Train Station.
The Aria Grand Final and Awards are held on the second Saturday in July at the Karralyka Theatre, Mines Rd Ringwood East. Free parking is available on site.
Can I buy a programme?
Printed Programmes will be available shortly before the opening date for $5 at the events or pre- purchased online when booking your entry.
How do I get my certificate and adjudicators comments?
You can collect these at the end of your section.
OR
You may bring along a stamped self addressed A4 envelope (including your name and section number) and leave it at the registration desk and these will be posted to you.
OR
Collect later at Bernies Music Land, 381 Canterbury Road, Ringwood.
I had to leave early and was unable to collect my certificate and critique, can you post it to me?
Please call in to Bernies Music Land, 381 Canterbury Rd, Ringwood and collect your items within 1 month after the conclusion of the Eisteddfod.
Will there be someone available on the day to help competitors tune their instruments?
No, there will be no-one official to assist with this.
I forgot to indicate in my booking that I would like to use the official accompanist – is it too late?
Please email the office via ringwoodeisteddfodinc@gmail.com to request the accompanist.
I have indicated in my booking that I would like to use the official accompanist – what now?
Official accompanists are available. If you would like to arrange a rehearsal, the accompanists’ details can be found in the Schedule of Events and Timetable.
Do I need to bring a copy of the music for the adjudicator?
Yes, you need to have the original licenced copy of the music for yourself, and bring a clear
photocopy for the adjudicator. Photocopies will not be returned.
What do I need to know about copyright at the Eisteddfod?

Can the same piece be played in different sections?
No, a different piece must be played in all Sections, unless required, as per Rule 20.
I can’t remember what section/s I have entered! How can I check this?
If you check your tickets, you will see a section number on each.
Are contestants permitted to have an assistant to turn the pages of their music score during their performance?
Yes page turners are allowed, but they must position themselves on the opposite side to the judges to ensure that there is no obstruction to the Judges viewing.
Will there be a warm-up room for piano solo competitors?
No, due to the number of competitors there will not be a warm up room available.
Will there be a stool or an extended pedal available for young piano players?
Yes, we will have a pedal extender and as well as an adjustable stool – and they will be playing on a Schimmel Konzert Series Grand Piano supplied by Bernies Music Land.
During the sections do the competitors need a supervisor (like a parent to be at the back of the platform or will be one person to organise the children?
There is an announcer of each section who organises the children, the announcer calls the performer to the stage, parents and teachers remain seated in the audience.
My Section has a time limit. Do I need to fill the time with several pieces, or may I only perform one piece?
Entrants are not penalised for pieces which do not reach the time limit. It is acceptable to play several pieces as long as the time limit is strictly adhered to.
Can I sing Musical Theatre songs?
Juniors and Seniors can sing Musical Theatre songs in the Contemporary Vocal Section appropriate to their age. Those over 17 are also eligible for the Light Opera and Musical Comedy Section.
Can I bring my music on stage with me?
Yes – you may bring your music on stage.
Must Aria grand finalists sing the same work as they did in the open section prior?
Singers sing twice in the Grand Final, it does not have to be the same piece as the heat.
I know what Section I have entered, but I’m not sure what time it begins! Where do I find this information?
Entrants will receive an email with a link to the programme in late-May, which contains all competitor names and Section times. Please attend 15 minutes prior to your due time.
Someone I know is playing in the Eisteddfod, can I be part of the audience?
Tickets are available now online, or cash only at the door on the day. If you intend to attend the Eisteddfod on more than one day consider a Season Pass* and save! Book here!
*Not valid for the Grand Final Concert
What is the time limit for the Grand Final for Instrumental Performers?
8 minutes.
What is the time limit for Open and Concerto Sections?
10 minutes – you may choose where you start and finish within the piece.
How do I let you know which piece/s I am performing in my section/s?
Click here to download a music record sheet. You will need to print it off and provide us with three copies of the form for each piece you are performing. Please hand to the registration desk when you arrive.
